Antigua's Sunset

Antigua's Sunset on Twitpic

Union Square, Manhattan

Where else would you see a crowd of peace-loving, care-free people dancing for absolutely no reason? Union square!! I had a great time there last Friday. I decided to take a train uptown to clear my head and also get a bite at my new favorite location, Whole Foods. Later, I found myself sitting on a step in Union square eating blueberries. I became aware of the elements that Union square has to offer. It is one of the most interesting places I've ever been. Even though it is just a small spot, it is surrounded by many stores, dining areas, and supermarkets. Many vendors set up their goods, art pieces, books, clothing, jewelry etc. I was lucky to get three fairly new books for a total cost of $1. That was definitely more than a bargain.

Not only can you find bargains, but you can also find a lot of talent in this area. Many break dancers, contortionist, drummers, of course artistic talent through paintings, photography and many other types of creativity. All these are displayed throughout the course of the week.

This is one place where you can simply be yourself , take pictures of interesting people and meet these unique individuals. Just find a comfortable spot or look around and you will be amazed of some of the things that you will see or find here.

Only in New York....

Photography ideas

Photographie Dans La Salle De Bain

A light bulb went off in my head as I was looking at some pictures from National Geographic. Most of the time when going to a restaurant, hotel, office building or other places offering services, I have a tendency to take a sneak peak of their bathroom. I have this fascination with the interior design of a bathroom. It's either the colours, the facilities, the lighting used, etc. Basically the whole appearance. For example, I went to a restaurant located in Manhattan and the bathroom had a red glass wall embedded with branches and vines. I have never seen that before and just simply wondered about the extent of a person(s) creativity.

Interior design is the packaging for a company. Yes! you may offer great service, great food or what not, but if your place looks like you only spent a few dimes to put it together, you are not going to get the clientele that you desire. I strongly believe that the appearance and location of a business attracts the kind of people that your business looks like. For instance, businesses that use a lot of art work, interesting and funky pieces will attract people who have a broad perspective about things and appreciate art.

Anyway, as you all may know, I am developing my passion for photography. I think it might be interesting to start taking photos in bathrooms around the world. It's a thought. Tell me what you think. I do think it may sound a bit absurd but I think it might be quite interesting.

Cuisine!!

Yesterday, I went to a restaurant by the name of Saint Ambroeus located on 259 W 4th St. New York 10014(At Perry St). I went with 2 of my good friends to discuss our short and long-term goals. The setting was great and the food and service were also up to par.

One thing that I've noticed in Manhattan, ever since moving here in May, is that you can find exquisite, and a variety of foods for very cheap prices. My perception was that Manhattan was simply pricey with everything.

Of course, being women who love desserts we had to try some! The waiter decided which ones were the best and we ordered them. One of my friends had a dark chocolate dessert (image located at the top left). It was so good to the point where she was engaged in conversation before she ate it, and when she put that first bite in her mouth, it was like she looked to heavens and thanked God for being alive at that very moment. It was hilarious! I tried some and the chocolate simply melted in your mouth. So I understood the "moment" that she had. My other friend had an excellent dessert called "Tropicale" which was a vanilla sponge cake with mango and passion fruit mousse (bottom right). I had a vanilla-like whipped cream, with blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and raspberries in topped with a blue berry sauce (bottom left) . It was definitely to die for! It was funny how silent the table got after we started eating. The desserts are highly recommended at this restaurant!!!!

The new blogger

Never thought that one day I'd become a blogger. However, I began to see the importance of marketing yourself and letting yourself be known. Where do I begin?!
